Bayelsa State Intern Nurses Groan as Nurses Mark International Nurses Week
Its been pain, anguish and heartache for intern nurses employed in January 2019 under the ministry of health in bayelsa state. Information reaching us reveal that 35 intern nurses who were offered employment in January 2019 are yet to receive a dime in salaries. This is worrisome as other interns in pharmacy, medical laboratory science etc have been duly paid on a monthly basis
According to an unnamed source, the salaries of these interns could not be processed because the governor is yet to assent to the memo authorizing their remuneration
In a plea addressed to the State Governor Seriake Henry Dickson, the intern nurses pleaded with the governor to consider their work ethics since employment till date and approve their payment
In the light of the ongoing nurses week celebration, the interns pleaded with his excellency, Governor Seriake Dickson to take cognizance of their their immense contribution to the overall health of citizenry of bayelsa state and allviate thier suffering as they are fresh graduates who have nothing to survive and really suffering.
Efforts to reach the Director of Nursing at the bayelsa state ministry of health proved abortive as at time of writing this report
