Ten years after the Garki Hospital was concessioned to Premier Hospital Ltd to administer, the hospital management has invested N4.28 billion in the hospital and plans a fresh N10 billion investment in the next 30 years.
Dr. Ibrahim Wada, the Founder and Executive Vice Chairman, Garki Hospital disclosed this when the management of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) led by the Ag. Director General/CEO, Engr. Chidi K. Izuwah visited the hospital on performance audit yesterday.
The Garki Hospital was concessioned to Premier Hospital Ltd at N361.11 million for 15 years by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in 2007.
The concession will lapse by 2022 after which the contract can be extended on new terms or terminated by the government.
Speaking, the ICRC CEO, Izuwah promised his regulatory support adding that the Garki Hospital is a success and the model needs studying so it can be replicated in other parts of the country.
“Next year, we want to carry a detailed world case study of the success of Garki Hospital so that we can find ways of replicating it across the country. If we are to replicate, this success across the country, imagine the kind of health care system we will have,” he noted.
