Nigerian Nurses, Midwives Kick Against Propose Privatisation Of Health Service
The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives NANNM has warned that the ongoing strike by the Joint Health Sector Unions JOHESU will not end, if government continues its lackadaisical attitude towards the union’s demands.
It said government has the wherewithal to end the strike.
Briefing journalists, yesterday, in Abuja, NANNM President, Adeniji Abdulrafiu Ajani, said the strike became inevitable because of government’s insensitive position, urging it to immediately attend to the workers’ demands.
He noted that Universal Health Coverage will remain a mirage, if nurses and midwives are not given due recognition and remuneration.
He kicked against the planned privatisation of some healthcare services, saying any type of privatisation that will put healthcare services beyond the reach of ordinary Nigerians will not be accepted.
