OET Sample Test PDF: OET Writing Samples for Nurses and Doctors
For those who are planning to write OET, I would like to share some of my OET experience. They say that OET is easier than IELTS. Maybe because it is profession specific (i can’t really compare coz I didn’t write IELTS) But OET is not easy. I find it so hard honestly. Given that it is my first time to write any english test -the pressure of the test and examination environment is killing me. You really need to prepare. Many test takers fail because they took the test for granted.
LISTENING: it is the easiest subtest I can say, but take note that preparation material is easier than the actual test. During the test you won’t use any earphone/headset. Super bilis ng oras and the accent was Australian 😂 (or maybe dahil dito lang ako nagexam)
You need to write legibly as fast as you can, you can write multiple answers in one blank given na additional answer m n yun example may 4 symptoms tapos 3 lng ung asked you can put the other symptom on the 3rd blank aswell. They accept that. Kumbaga more chances of winning 😂
READING: it was divided into part A and B. In Part A there is a 2-pages passage and you were only given 15 minutes to answer 27-30 fill in the blank questions. It is the hardest. 😨 You cannot concentrate because of time pressure. I remember I keep on praying “Lord help me focus” hehe. It is hard to find the answer from the passage and you need to rephrase and/or change the word to fit in. The best thing to do is to be calm and focus. Try not to think about the time. You are not expected to answer all, just make sure you will have “possibly right” answers. Go to the answer sheet first and try to locate which part of the passage, you don’t need to finish reading the passage first. You can only write 1-3 words per blank. More than that will be considered incorrect. Part A is only 1/3 of the score for reading. So if you feel upset after the test like me coz I only answered 13-15 items 😂 just give your best shot in Part B. It is a 10-item multiple choice questions each for 2 passage so total of 20 items. You will be given 40 minutes for this. The choices are quite confusing, just chose the best answer.
SPEAKING: kaba is real 😅 but I think what they are looking for is your “confidence” in speaking english. You will be given a card, they will let you read & write for 2 mins it will be your guide throughout the roleplay. They will purposely disagree sometimes so you need to work that out.
WRITING: 1. you need to read the writing task and take note whom you are writing to. You will only chose important key notes related to the person you are writing to ex to Physiotherapist, dietician, co-nurse, doctor 2. familiarize yourself with the pattern of the letter, the introduction and the closing of the letter is quite generic so memorize it 😄 I posted some pages of the material that helped me a lot. God bless to all takers.
