Ondo JOHESU Makes U-Turn, Begins Indefinite Strike
Ondo State JOHESU has made a U-turn and will embark on an indefinite strike from tuesday’s midnight medicalworldupdate has learnt. This is coming few days after the National president of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives Alh. Adeniji declared any state not joining the ongoing JOHESU strike persona non grata.
In a letter dated 15th May, 2018 and signed by the three health unions- NANNM, MHWUN and NAUP the union accused the state government of not acceding to it local demands hence the need to join the ongoing national strike. Below is the content of the letter:
Re: Notification to Embark on the Directive of Joint Health Sector Union for State and Local Government to Join the Ongoing Industrial Action.
You will recall that an ultimatum was issued by all unions that make up JOHESU in the state to join the ongoing National Strike. The ultimatum expired on the 9th of May, 2018.
Consequence upon this, the Joint Health Sector Union in the state was engaged in discussions where some local issues will be addressed within 7 days by the state govt
We are taken aback despite the understanding the unions demonstrated not to lock down the health sector in Ondo state, not minding the sanctions of the National headquarters.
From the foregoing, the union will withdraw their services as from 12midnight 15th May, 2018, pending further directive from the national headquarters.
Yours faithfully
