Re: US Nurse Registration Step-by-Step Guide for Foreign Educated Nurses |
Good evening Idowu and thanks so much for the good work you are doing. Inspired by Royalty thread, I started my USA registration journey. II am heading for Texas. Although I haven’t gone far as I’m still expecting my cgfns ces report but here are few of the things I have done. 1. Started cgfns ces report for Texas Board of Nursing last year April and expecting my ces report any moment from now. 2. Ordered for FBI fingerprints card and already in transit back to USA after fingerprinting and police report 3. Applied to the Texas Board of Nursing just last week.By tomorrow I’m going to give details of these steps so far including the cost analysis. I’m a self applicant based in Nigeria. Thanks so much once again Pecu 26/02/2018 Update Apr 16 2017 I created an account with CGFNS using the Guide by Royalty found here http://nursesarena.com/travel-nursing/my-journey-to-nursing-registration-in-usa/ (I didn’t send my secondary school result because if you have graduated from secondary school more than 10 years ago, secondary school result is waived. Apr 27 2017 I made payment of $350 for my application (Then Nigeria cards were disabled for international payment so I used a friend dollar account) I printed the transcript request form and sent it to my school which cost N21,000 with EMS postage. I equally sent that of Nursing and Midwifery Council for Verification of results which cost N8,750 Jun 16 2017 CGFNS acknowledged the receipt of my Nursing School Transcripts (That’s like 3 weeks after it was actually delivered to them) Jul 07 2017 CGFNS acknowledged the receipt of verification of license report from Nursing Council December 9, 2017 I requested for FBI fingerprint card through Texas Board of Nursing Website https://www.bon.texas.gov/forms/web-requests.asp January 2, 2018 I sent my application to a friend in USA to assist me in raising bankdraft for the application. to the Texas Board of Nursing. I later emailed the board to ask whether they accept the scanned copy and they said yes. This got to USA on the 5th of February 2018 because I used normal post office which cost less than N1,000 Jan 25 2018 I received message from cgfns that I should use a correct address so that writing my report can commence (I used P.O BOX as my address in my cgfns profile instead of home address). I updated the information and even sent them a mail. January 27, 2018 The fingerprint card I requested for arrived January 30, 2018 I registered with Identogo click https://uenroll.identogo.com/workflows/11G64G when you get to the site click “submit fingerprint card by Mail” then click on “Pay for Ink Card Submission” and complete the application. Note that you will need to know your weight, height, eye color etc before you can complete the application. Application cost $37 which I paid with my GTB naira card. After this you will need to print the summary page, sign it and put it inside the FBI fingerprint card you collected. February 5, 2018. I went to police headquarters in my state- Alagbon Ikoyi Lagos to be fingerprinted . I collected police report and emailed the fingerprint card, police report and printout from Identogo website and send to the address on the printout. The police report and fingerprint stuff cost me N7,500 but can be cheaper if you bargain very well. I sent it via EMS for approximately N11,000 I wrote cgfns again on Feb 07 2018 to confirm whether they have updated my information from their end and they said yes and that they just notified my assessor and he will begin work on my report after 3 weeks. I was like mogbe February 12, 2018 My application was sent to Texas Board of Nursing February 21, 2018 Identogo confirmed that they have received my fingerprint card for criminal background check February 22, 2018 Identogo confirmed that the fingerprint card has been processed February 22, 2018 My information appeared on the Website of Texas Board of Nursing. To check your application status click https://www.bon.texas.gov/forms/applstatus.asp February23, 2018 My fingerprint information appeared on the Texas Board of Nursing website The remaining outstanding issues are: CGFNS report, Online Jurisprudence Exam which I am already preparing to do by middle of March and register with Pearson ($200) Special thanks to Peculiar who founded Nursesarena.com for the guidance so far. I will keep editing this post as time goes on and events unfold so as not to create an unnecessary long thread.

Re: US Nurse Registration Step-by-Step Guide for Foreign Educated Nurses by Betiks |
Thanks a lot walex for this great insight, and to peculiar for this forum. I have my CES report already and it was said to have been sent to Texas BON. This was sometime in November, but am yet to hear anything from them despite several emails, I have also checked the website severally but it keeps giving error. With your explanation I think its because I have not paid the fees for registration and am also yet to do the finger prints. Asides these is there any other thing I need to know. Thank you.

Hello Betiks, yes it’s because you don’t have an account with them yet. My advice for you now is to go to Texas Nursing Board website and download the application form. Fill the application page only, sign it and send it to the Texas board of Nursing with bank draft of $100 drawn in USA. You can also request for the fingerprint card using the link above (but make sure you use a functioning postal address otherwise you won’t receive it. Had it been I haven’t wasted mine I would have sent it to you (you will be given 2 but you need just one so when you make mistake on one you can use the other one) When your account is created with them, you will be able to see your cgfns report and other outstanding documents. Hope this helps? Follow updates on this on the original forum Here |
