Zambia Ministry of Health Lusaka Vacancies for Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Officer

The Ministry of Health (MOH) seeks to recruit suitably qualified and experienced persons to be appointed to the underlisted positions under the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) & USAID supported Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) programme.

Position: Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Officer (1 posts)

Location: Ministry of Health (HQ)

The Officer will primarily provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and its adolescent health partners at national, provincial, and district levels for the effective implementation of the Adolescent Health Services Platform (AHSP), under the new MOH National Adolescent Health Strategy (NAHS) (2017-2021).

Specific Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to the provinces to ensure that Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health (ASRH) high impact interventions are well articulated in the provincial and district plans and budgets in order to achieve the highest program quality.
• Work closely with the provincial and district health offices to assist in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the AHSP components of the NAHS.
• Promote, monitor and assess the implementation of integrated approaches to ASRH service delivery at both facility and community levels.
• Provide technical support to province, district, facility and community level health providers, volunteers and partners to promoting health information and demand creation for increased access and utilization SRH services by at-risk adolescents.
• Provide management and monitoring assistance for the planning, delivery and use of programme inputs for adolescent and SRH activities to ensure attainment of the programme objectives.
• Assist with technical inputs to programme management, coordination, reporting and supervision activities.
• Conduct regular monitoring field visits to the provinces and districts to ensure appropriate support and mentoring of the health staff and peer educators.
• Review, document and disseminate key best practices

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate with five O level credits including English and Mathematics
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent
• Master’s degree in Public Health added advantage.
• Training in Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights
• Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in adolescent sexual and reproductive health.
• Knowledge of the adolescent health and development programming environment and partners.
• Significant experience working with government and non-government partners at sub-national and national level
• Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Fluency in written and spoken English
