NAHN is pleased to announce Jean Watson, Ph.D. RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, will deliver a keynote address at our 43rd Annual Conference in Cleveland July 31 – August 3. Dr. Watson is Distinguished Professor and Dean Emerita, University of Colorado, Denver.
She will deliver her message on caring during our morning general session on August 1 at the Cleveland Hilton Downtown.
Dr. Watson has devoted her career to the phenomena of human caring and approaches her work from her own, persona experience. In 1997, she suffered a traumatic eye injury in a golfing accident and lost one of her eyes.
“I had to learn to be still, to surrender to all; to let go; to learn to receive; to be open to unknown mystery and miracles,” she writes on her website. ” It was the mystic and metaphysical/spiritual practices and inner experiences that carried me through.”
A year after losing her eye, Dr. Watson lost her husband to suicide, which further galvanized her devotion to her quest for the mystical spirituality of human caring, she writes. “
This year’s conference theme is Latino Health Care: Advancing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity. Enjoy reconnecting with your NAHN familia and educational opportunities and celebrate our contributions to our communities through health care.
