Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria (AHAPN) Demands Recruitment Of More Pharmacists In Sokoto
The National Chairman of the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria, Dr Kingsley Amibor, has called on Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State to recruit more pharmacists to man the pharmacy unit of the Usmanu Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital Sokoto.
Amibor made the call at the teaching hospital during a working visit to the state where he stressed on the need for the provision of optimum pharmaceutical care to the patients of the hospital.
“As you are aware, there is a paradigm shift in Pharmacy practice, globally, towards Pharmaceutical Care, which has demonstrated obvious better health outcomes in terms of humanistic, economic and clinical outcomes than the traditional practice of dispensing, which is no longer in vogue worldwide,” Amibor said.
He also called on the Sokoto State Government to recruit more pharmacists, including those for the mandatory one-year internship programme, as well as regular pharmacists.
While inspecting facilities at the International Conference Centre, Amibor commended the state government for the construction. He said the visit was aimed at finding out about the level of preparedness of the state to host the 21st Annual National Scientific Conference of the Association.
