One Arrested for Smuggling 3 Containers of Tramadol
Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Command, have arrested a suspect over the importation of Tramadol hydrochloride from India.
The officers also impounded three truckloads of tramadol, valued at about N110 million. The controlled drug, carefully concealed in a 4 by 40ft container was being smuggled into the country.
Customs Area Controller, Apapa Command, Jubrin Musa, who made this disclosure at a press conference yesterday, said tramadol is usually abused by drug addicts.
The hydrochloride salt of tramadol is used as a narcotic analgesic for severe pain, it can be addictive and weakly inhibits.
Musa said the three containers were arrested on February 6, 2018, by operatives of the command based on credible intelligence from the Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU).
