ABUAD Partners UAE Hospital in Training, Consultancy, Medical Administration
In an effort to curtail spending huge sums of money by Nigerians on medical treatments abroad, the Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Aster Group of Hospitals, Dubai, United Arab Emirates in areas of training, consultancy, offering of technical expertise and medical administration.
The partnership, according to ABUAD’s founder, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), which he said would be permanent, will pave the way for the Dubai-based medical institution to assist Afe Babalola Teaching Hospital in its smooth take-off.
Speaking after the memorandum was signed Tuesday, Dr. Navin Pascal, who spoke on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aster, said the hospitals have subsidiaries in nine countries and had been receiving patients from over 90 countries across the world.
He said it was sad that Nigeria loses over 35,000 doctors to advanced countries due to poor remunerations, adding that the trend has been affecting healthcare service in the country.
“Aster has become a referral centre in the Middle East. Our partnership with ABUAD will be in the areas of training, technical and administration,” he said.
