Drama as woman alleges attempts to steal infant in Kenya
Drama unfolded at Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital after a woman complained of an attempt to steal her sister’s baby who had delivered at the heath facility Tuesday.
Beatrice Anyango alleged that there were plans to steal a baby boy who had been delivered by her sister identified as Nancy Atieno.
Anyango said that her sister whom she was taking care of delivered through caesarean section but a trainee nurse attempted to give her baby boy to another mother who had also delivered at the same maternity ward.
A few minutes later, the boy was returned to the mother after another nursing officer realized the mistake but she (Anyango) became wild to security guards who were manning entry into the maternity ward after they attempted to eject her out of the wards to leave nurses handle patients.
It forced a few nurses to leave the ward and plead with the public to quit the place and Anyango was finally allowed to return to the ward to take care of her sister.
Contacted for comments, Hospital Administrator Zachariah Oluoch refuted the claims saying that Anyango’s allegations were farfetched and had no truth adding that the baby will be released to his mother once his condition is stable.
